Oshkosh, WI, April 29, 2013 – It looked like a bit of a novelty last week. A non-functional toilet sitting next to the Panske Enterprises souvenir stand beneath the grandstands at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway.
Just what was that toilet doing there and what purpose does it serve?
Believe it or not “The Lucky Crapper” will become the focal point of prize giveaways, information requests and even a means to have area businesses announced on the public address system. Its purpose will grow as the season progresses.
In the next couple weeks several surveys will be made by the track to help improve marketing by polling fans about their interests in motorsports. The “Lucky Crapper” will be used to collect these surveys and several prizes will be awarded.
Business will also have an opportunity to get into the act. By dropping your business card into the “Lucky Crapper” you can have you business announced at least once per week over the public address system.
The debut of the Lucky Crapper will happen this week on Dan Kelly Plumbing Night at the races. The local master plumber has joined Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway with this unique promotional idea to encourage race fans attending Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway to utilize Dan Kelly plumbing for all their plumbing needs.
Dan Kelly Plumbing Night at the races is the second of the Lucky 13 Friday Night which count toward the season championships in each of the five divisions. On opening night an amazing 45 Automotive Supply Company IMCA Modifieds were on hand and fans were treated to a duel between former 141 Speedway champion Sean Jerovetz and Oshkosh Speedway’s own Tim Lemirande. In the end Jerovetz was able to fend off Lemirande for the victory by less than a car length. The Hansel Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds also presented a thrilling show with a weekly track record 39 cars taking to the track. Jeff Steenbergen was able to slip past Jon Schultz for the win in his newly build machine taking the car to victory lane on its maiden voyage.
The Ellington Mutual Insurance was the third division to set a weekly car count record with 29 drivers checking in. In the end Mike Montie, last season’s most prolific winner captured the victory in a borrowed car. Jerry Kope captured the Total Power Sales Street Stock main event going from third to first on the final lap and Tim Reichenberger dominated the Outlaw Chassis Grand National main event.
Over 120 cars are expected to check into the pit area again this Friday Night.
Racing is set to begin at 7:00pm, and the grandstands will be open at 5:00pm. Adult admission is just $10, with you admission for youngsters ages 11 through 15 just $5. Children are admitted FREE with a paid adult.
