American made racing tire company Hoosier, to partner with Speedzone
(OSHKOSH, WI) March 5 – Hoosier Tire, the largest racing tire manufacturer in the world, has agreed to become the official tire of the Automotive Supply Company Modified Division, Miller Lite Grand Nationals and the Total Power Sales Street Stocks in 2012.
Based in Plymouth, Indiana, Hoosier Tire is one of the largest employers in that city. It remains a privately owned company, headed up by Bob and Joyce Newton. In 1957 Bob and Joyce decided to begin producing their own race tires by re-treading street tires with softer compounds.
They began their business in an old abandoned horse barn in South Bend, Indiana, selling their tires to local racers.
The Speedzone will allow either the stamped or non-stamped Hoosier "G 60" tire to be utilized in competition. The Grand Nationals will use the Hoosier “E-MOD RC-4”. The Total Power Sales Street Stocks will only be able to buy the new Hoosier "500". They will provide champions jackets “. As more details become available we will post up dates. We are very pleased to have Hoosier throw its support to the Oshkosh Speedzone ,” said race promoter Larry Stratton. Drivers have a comfort level with their product in Wisconsin and that is important to us at this stage of the game.”
The season opens Friday May 4, 2011 at 7 p.m. sponsored by Country 92.9 WXMM. There will be two open practice session slated for Saturday, April 21 and 28, cost of the practice is just $15.00 per person and a free grandstand. April 14 will be the Speedzone car show, details are in process. Trophies will be handed out for the 5 divisions that run weekly at the Speedzone, Automotive Supply Company. Modifieds, Leon's Frozen Custard IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds, Miller Lite Grand Nationals, Total Power Sales Street Stocks and the awesome Lynn's Service Dirt Devils.
The WDLMA Late Models along with the Badger Mod Tour and the Leon's Frozen Custard IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds will take to the track Tuesday August 21 and the Bumper to Bumper/Budweiser IRA Outlaw Sprint cars will take to the track Friday June 22 and Friday August 24.
