Saturday, June 11, 2011 - Oshkosh, WI. - Speed and power is what defines motorsports, fans gather to watch the fastest drivers in each race make their way to victory. When it comes to sheer speed and power, few classes of cars can thrill like outlaw sprint cars. The light weight, open-wheeled machines produce nearly 800 horsepower and can reach speeds of 120 mph on the semi-banked third-mile clay oval here at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway. True masters of speed, you won't see anything faster take to the track at Oshkosh Speedzone this year.
The IRA Outlaw Sprints have been a feature special event at Oshkosh Speedzone for many seasons due to their popularity at the raceway. On Friday Night June 17th, the first of two appearances this season will be held for the cars.
In the last event held for the IRA Outlaw Sprints held last September, the race featured a 4-wide pass for the win, with Mike Reinke taking the victory.
Reinke, the current point leader in the traveling series which features over 30 events on their schedule is currently seeking his first victory of the 2011 campaign. So far this year Mike Kertscher and Billy Balog sit atop the winners list with two victories each. Balog has won the two most recent feature races and appears to be the man to catch in 2011.
Reinke, Kertscher, Balog along with Scott Neitzel and Bill Warren, who make up the top five in the current standings are all expected to appear at the Oshkosh Speedzone event. All totaled a field of near 30 cars should be on hand for the contest. 28 cars timed in during the most recent IRA Sprint race at the track last fall.
Joining the IRA Outlaw Sprints will be three of Oshkosh Speedzone's weekly racing divisions featuring a full points night for the classes. These will include the Miller Lite Grand Nationals, where five different drivers have seen victory on five different nights. T.J. Smith currently sits atop the standings in the class by a mere three points over Tim Warner who is seeking his first feature win in 2011. Larry Richards who won the most recent feature race currently lies in the third slot in the title chase.
The Total Power Sales Street Stocks and Lynn's Service Center Dirt Devils will also be on hand for the evenings events.
Tickets for the event are $20 for adults, $10 for students 11-15 years of age and children 10 and under are admitted free.
Pit gates open at 4:00pm, with the grandstands opening at 5:00pm. The racing program will begin at 6:30pm.

Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway is a 1/3 mile semi-banked clay oval located at the Sunnyview Expo Center which resides near the intersection of Highways 76 and County Trunk Y in Oshkosh. Weekly racing Friday Night racing continues until September.
