(Bonus points awarded for completed Driver's Information sheets before April 22nd)
OSHKOSH, WI, APRIL 4, 2012: It's like getting a bonus in your paycheck! Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway is preparing for the 2012 racing season and as part of that preparation drivers can benefit by earning 5 points toward the 2012 season championships before the first green flag of the season waves.
Well over a dozen drivers have already turned in their information sheets, with the Total Power Sales Street Stocks leading the way with the most submitted forms. The only class where the bonus points are not awarded is the Leon's Frozen Custard IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds which adhere to the IMCA point system.
In effort to be prepared for the incoming onslaught of new cars and drivers, track officials are awarding the 5 bonus points to drivers who fill out and turn in their completed drivers information sheet before April 22nd.
The information sheet contains all the information needed for the track office, it's scoring staff and the media center. The information on the sheet includes all the drivers sponsors and background information which is also used by the track announcer and the for the tracks mobile phone app.
The form can be completed online and then saved or printed. If saved it can be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. If printed it can be sent to Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway at 2230 Plymouth St. Oshkosh, WI 54901.
The form can also be dropped off at the Oshkosh Speedzone Car Show to be held at the Lowe's Home Improvement Store in Oshkosh on April 14th. The setup for the show begins at 9:00am with the show starting at Noon and running throughout the day.
The final day the information sheet can be turned in is April 21st when Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway opens its pit area for the first time in 2012. The pit gates will open at 11:00 am with the practice session running from Noon until 4:00pm.
The goal of pre-registering driers is to reduce the number of information sheets being entered into the computer on opening night as a major influx of new drivers is expected for the 2012 season.
The 2012 racing season officially gets underway on May 4th, when WXMM 92.9fm country radio presents the season opening event. Fan will be treated to a full pit area where over 120 cars are expected to compete in the tracks five divisions.
Racing action will begin at the new 7:00pm start time. The Automotive Supply Company Modifieds, Leon's Frozen Custard IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds, Miller Lite Grand Nationals, Total Power Sales Street Stocks and Lynn's Service Center Dirt Devils will begin their season long point battle.
Adult admission tickets are just $10, students ages 11 through 15 are admitted for just $5 and children 10 and under are free to attend the races.
Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway is a 1/3 mile semi-banked clay oval located at the Sunnyview Expo Center which resides near the intersection of Highways 76 and County Trunk Y in Oshkosh. Weekly racing Friday Night racing continues until September.
