PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT AS OSHKOSH SPEEDZONE SEES NEARLY 60 DRIVERS SHAKE DOWN THIER RIDES IN ANTICIPATION OF THE UPCOMING SEASON

Oshkosh, WI, April 21, 2012: It was an afternoon that has been awaited for nearly six months as racing machines finally took to the track in anticipation of the season ahead at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway.

In spite of nearly 2.5 inches of rain which fell Thursday night on some recently added clay, track officials whipped the third mile clay oval into shape and the track proved to be very racy for the 56 different drivers which checked into the pit area throughout the day.

It gave rookies and veterans alike a chance to shake down their cars and test new setups for that extra speed which will be needed to find victory lane this year. A surprising number of new drivers were on hand and as suspected the competition will be tough in each of the classes this season.

The modified division had the highest representation on the track indicating a healthy field will be on hand opening night when racing begins on May 4th. Oshkosh Speedzone is fast becoming known as the "Home of the Modifieds" in Wisconsin having had the highest average car count for a full-modified division in Wisconsin and perhaps the upper midwest.

The practice also marked the final day drivers were able to turn in their driver's information forms for an extra 5 bonus points toward the champion in four classes. Nearly 50 drivers are now tied for the point lead in the Automotive Supply Company Modifieds, Miller Lite Grand Nationals, Total Power Sales Street Stocks and Lynn's Service Center Dirt Devils. The Leon's Frozen Custard IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds are unable to earn bonus points due to the strict adherence to the IMCA point system.

There will be a final pre-season practice next Saturday April 28th. It will be the last chance to take to the track prior to the opening show on May 4th.

The pit gates will open at 11:00am and the practice sessions will run from Noon until 4:00pm.

Pit admission for the practice session is $15, while fans are invited to attend the practice and sit in the grandstand area at no charge.

The season will officially get underway on Friday May 4, 2011 with racing starting at 7:00pm. The event is sponsored by WXMM 92.9fm Country radio which is not only hosting out track commercials this season but the station will also provide last minute weather related information. The WXMM 92.9fm Season Opener and will feature all five weekly divisions including the Automotive Supply Company Modifieds, Miller Lite Grand Nationals, Leon's Frozen Custard IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds, Total Power Sales Street Stocks and Lynn's Service Center 4 Cylinders.

Adult admission tickets are just $10, students ages 11 through 15 are admitted for just $5 and children 10 and under are free to attend the races.
