Badger Stocks Make First Ever Appearance At The Zone This Friday Night!

Oshkosh, WI, July 17, 2013 – After a one week break in the action when the Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway grounds were utilized for Lifest, the roar of racing engines will return to the banked third-mile clay oval.

In the next week two very special programs will take place at the facility beginning with this Friday Night, July 19th when Capital Credit Union will present the popular Badger Modified Tour. Additionally the first ever appearance for the Badger Stock cars will take place as the series wraps up a three-race mini-series at Oshkosh Speedway after holding events at Seymour Speedway of Wednesday Night and Thunderhill Raceway on Thursday evening. The tracks own Hansel Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds will mark the third class for the program presenting a full points show for the popular division.

The headlining Badger Modifieds feature top modified drivers from throughout the state of Wisconsin and features some competitors extremely familiar with the raceway here at Oshkosh. Current series point leader Mitch McGrath is no stranger to victory lane having previously captured several Friday Night races at The Zone. Likewise Tim Lemirande the most recent winner in BMT action having won just last week in thrilling fashion at the Dodge County Fairgrounds should prove to be a top contender when the Badger Modifieds invade Oshkosh Speedzone this Friday Night. Other top series racers include Craig Priewe, Lance Arneson, Eric VanIten, top rookie series Brad Lautenbach and Pat Zdroik.

Over 100 different drivers have participated in the series thus far in 2013 and a field of over 40 entries are expected for the show at The Zone.

Not to be outdone the Badger Stocks will be showcasing the area’s top Stock Car pilots. The division is noted for its extremely close racing and will feature top area racers such as Rod Snellenberger, John Heinz, Shawn Wagner, Shaun Michonski and more. The race will mark the debut for the series at the track. The Stock Car type class last appeared at the raceway during the Fall Classic last September and provided fans with a highly competitive race which was topped by Jesse Colwell who outran Mike Cole and Larry Karcz Jr.

Rounding out the program will be the IMCA Northern Sport Mods. Currently Todd Wiese sits atop the standings by a fairly comfortable 28 markers over division rookie Steve Schneider. The month of August is especially busy for the class giving those chasing Wiese ample opportunity to cut into the point lead and content for the 2013 title. In addition to Schneider who has already chalked up two wins as a rookie, keep an eye on J.J. Anderson, Kelsy Hayes and Kevin Bethke as those with the best shot to unseat Wiese from the top of the standings. 58 different drivers have earned points in the Sport Modifieds this season and have seen fields of nearly 30 cars per night participate.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early for this Friday night special event to get the best possible seat as we fully expect an outstanding crowd. The grandstands will open promptly at 5:00pm.

The first race of the night will get the green flag at 7:00pm. Adult admission is only $15, with student pricing admission only $10 for young fans ages 11 through 15. Children 10 and under are admitted FREE with a paid adult admission.

Following this Friday Night’s program Oshkosh Speedzone will be presenting its first Tuesday Night special of the 2013 season as Coor’s Light will be the headline sponsor for the Walk of Fame Night at the raceway. The July 23rd event will have throwback pricing in place as admission for attendees 11 years of age and older will be just $5.00. Additionally $1.00 Soda, BBQ, Hot Dogs and Tap Beer will be available throughout the program.

The program will present all five weekly divisions taking to the track in a full point show. Seeing action will be the Automotive Supply Company IMCA Modifieds, Hansel Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Mods, Outlaw Chassis Grand Nationals, Total Power Sales Street Stocks and the Ellington Mutual Insurance Dirt Devils.
