Saturday, July 9th, 2011 - Oshkosh, WI. - After a one week break in racing action as the track facilities were in use by Lifefest, racing will return with back to back racing events on Friday Night July 15th and Tuesday Night July 19th.
The events will continue the trend of close racing action, high car counts and a close title chase in all divisions.
First on the schedule is the July 15th program. The "Budweiser Night at the Races", which will feature Automotive Supply Company Modifieds, Miller Lite Grand Nationals, Leon's Frozen Custard Sport Modifieds, Total Power Sales Street Stocks and Lynn's Service Center Dirt Devils. Over 100 cars are expected to be in attendance for the event as the 2011 title chase heats up.
Brain Drexler currently holds the point lead in the Automotive Supply Company Modified division by 13 markers over Travis Spaulding and the upcoming two races could prove pivotal to those driver's title hopes.
Tim Warner leads the Miller Lite Grand National standings while seeking his first feature win of 2011 at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway!
Tim Warner may still be seeking his first feature win of the 2011 season in the Miller Lite Grand Nationals but his consistency has placed him atop the standings by four points over T.J Smith in the closest point battle among the five divisions.
With a 21 point advantage, Zeke Bishofberger could use the upcoming events to stretch his margin in the Leon's Frozen Custard Sport Modifieds, while his closest competitor Kevin Bethke knows it's time to start collecting victories and close the gap as the season reaches the mid-point.
Likewise Jason Fairbank has a bit of an advantage in the Lynn's Service Center Dirt Devil division with a 17 point cushion, but Dan Juszczyk had managed to stay in contention and put the pressure on Fairbank by grabbing a feature win in the most recent event.
The point standings in the Total Power Sales Street Stocks have gone through several shakeups, and it's currently Jeff Jungwirth using a combination of speed and consistency to place himself atop the standings by seven markers over and always fast Jerry Winkler.
Pit Gates Open at 4:00pm and the grandstands gates open at 5:00pm for the Friday Night July 15th event. The first race will start at 6:30pm.
Then just four days later Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway will hear the roar of engines again on Tuesday Night July 19th as The Galleria of Entertainment will present the 2011 Walk of Fame Night at the races.
The special mid-week program will honor racing past with special pricing and ceremonies. For this evening only, grandstand admission prices have been reduced to just $5 for adults. Concession prices have also been slashed with $1 hot dogs and $1 soda and beer.
In addition the program will honor past drivers who captured their share of victories and memorable moments at the former Leo's Speedway which was the forerunner to the current Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway and had provided area fans with racing action into the mid-1970's.
These drivers will be inducted into the "Walk of Fame" for their exploits and this year's honorees include Leroy Dehn, Jerry Reichenberger and Erv Schmude.
Past inductees have included promoter of the former Leo's Speedway Leo Galicia, and area racing greats Dave Conger, Roger Regeth, J.J Smith and Bob Bennett just to name a few.
A full program of racing action is also on tap with all five weekly divisions taking to the track for a full program of racing. The show will use the regular start times of 4:00pm for the pit gate opening, the grandstands gates open at 5:00pm and the first race will start at 6:30pm.
